In this video, Ms. Hopolang Phororo, United Nations Resident Coordinator, introduces 80 Voices for 80 Years of the United Nations—a commemorative initiative marking eight decades of the UN’s partnership with the world, and with Namibia.
The project brings together voices from across the country, capturing how Namibians reflect on the UN’s role in supporting independence, advancing peace, and accompanying the nation through moments of challenge and change.
Through these voices, the video explores today’s realities—from livelihoods and healthcare to safety and opportunity—while also looking ahead. Namibians share their hopes for a future grounded in skills, dignity, justice, and empowerment.
These reflections underscore the continued relevance of the Sustainable Development Goals, the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, and the Pact for the Future.
As Ms. Phororo emphasizes, this is not the UN speaking about Namibia—it is Namibia speaking for itself. And the message is clear: it is time to listen, and to act.
