As the United Nations marks its 80th anniversary, this first instalment of 80 Voices for 80 Years brings together reflections from Namibians across generations and communities on the UN’s impact in Namibia.
The video provides a platform for people from different walks of life to share how the UN has accompanied Namibia’s journey—from the struggle for independence to nation-building and sustainable development. Through personal testimonies, it highlights the UN’s contributions to peace and democratic transition, education and infrastructure, healthcare delivery, and the promotion of human rights and freedoms.
Voices reflect on the UN’s role in supporting peaceful elections, expanding access to education—particularly in rural areas—strengthening health systems through outreach and HIV programmes, and upholding dignity through freedom of expression and participation. The film also looks forward, touching on the importance of culture, innovation, and technology as foundations for future generations.
Together, these voices offer both appreciation and perspective—acknowledging the UN’s enduring commitment to peace, security, and development in Namibia, even amid a changing and often challenging global landscape.
