Nature is critical to our survival. April's Goal of the Month urges action to protect and preserve all life on land.
We rely on nature to provide us with our oxygen, regulate our weather patterns, pollinate our crops, and produces our food and animal feed. But our environment is under increasing stress. April 2022’s Goal of the Month urges action to protect and preserve life on land.
Climate-Change and human expansion are deteriorating our ecosystems and biodiversity more rapidly than ever. Deforestation is driving animals to extinction. Desertification, caused by human activities and pollution, poses a major challenge to sustainable development and food security for millions of people.
We can take active steps to preserve our environment by:
- Recycling
- Eliminating single-use plastics
- Eating locally and ethically sourced foods
- Supporting ecotourism that minimizes wildlife disturbance
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued a stark reminder that “Without nature’s help, we cannot thrive or even survive on this planet Earth.”. So let us all take active steps to preserve life on land and achieve SDG 15 in this Decade of Action.
