About the event
The United Nations (UN) declared the 23 June International Public Service Day. The day is dedicated to the contribution of public service workers to our communities. At the same time, Africa Public Service Day (APSD) is an event entrenched in the calendar of the African Union (AU). It originates from the conference of African Ministers for Public or Civil Service held in Tangier, Morocco in 1994. It was agreed at this conference that the 23rd of June should be celebrated annually as Africa Public Service Day to recognise the value and virtue of service and public servants to the community. It is also a platform to reflect and share practical recommendations on improved ethical, and innovative service delivery, premised on the African Charter for the Values and Principles for Public Administration nationally and across the continent.
THEME: “Enhancing the Resilience of the African Public Administration to support and facilitate the realization of Africa’s nutritional needs during and post COVID-19 Pandemic.”
