Namibia's Comprehensive Conservation Agriculture Programme II (CCAP II) 2024/2025–2028/2029
29 July 2024
Namibia's Comprehensive Conservation Agriculture Programme II 2024/2025–2028/2029 (CCAP II) aims to combat resource degradation and food insecurity caused by climate change and human activities. The program focuses on increasing the adoption of conservation agriculture (CA) among smallholder farmers to enhance yields, income, and food security.
Building on the success of the first CCAP (2015/2016–2019/2020), which increased CA adoption from 40% to 88.6%, CCAP II will expand CA practices nationwide. It promotes integrating CA into horticulture, agro-forestry, and using organic soil amendments in cereal cropping systems. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (MAWLR) and its partners such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), aims to harmonize and standardize CA implementation across Namibia.
