The campaign Buy Local, Grow Namibia can lead to producing positive results; increasing job opportunities and generating income to inject necessary momentum.
What an exciting day it was in the land of the brave! Today, Hon. Lucia Iipumbu, Minister of Industrialization, Trade and SME Development launched the Buy Local, Grow Namibia campaign.
“The campaign will highlight the vital role of local businesses in our nation's economic recovery from the COVID-19pandemic," the Minister said during her keynote address.
Iipumbu called on Namibians to pledge their support.
UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Sen Pang highlighted that the campaign Buy Local, Grow Namibia can lead to producing positive results; increasing job opportunities and generating income to inject necessary momentum for the recovery of the economy.
The campaign was a meeting of minds and alignment of a common vision by Team Namibia, the United Nations System Namibia, Namibia Trade Forum, The Namibian and Weathermen and Co.
"We need to get back to believing in ourselves, and The Namibian is here to support that message! We have lost trust and confidence in our own. We should get back to basics!" said Tangeni Amupadhi, Editor of The Namibian Newspaper.
"We need to spend our dollar here so that it benefits another Namibian, and that it creates a future for all of us.My big appeal to the public is to ensure that your dollar counts and stands for tomorrow," said Patricia Hoeksema, Team Namibia Board Member.
Namibian retailers also part of the campaign attended the launch to solidify their commitment and support to Government as well as the Namibian public. Retailers include Woolworths, Food Lover’s Market, Spar, PnP Namibia, Agra Namibia and Shoprite and Checkers.
The Buy Local, Grow Namibia Campaign logo was officially unveiled and endorsed by all partners. The campaign is set to run for 31 days with a series of exciting engagements planned to encourage Namibians to Buy Local and Grow Namibia.
Namibian artists Sean K, KP Illest and Niita were present to support partners and help rally Namibians to action! Popular local comedian OC Ebs was also at the launch to cheer on stakeholders.
With so much support and such an exciting start - there is great anticipation to see how Namibians will bring their A game to support the campaign and start work to put Namibia on the path to economic recovery.
